Our planet has been stripped of three trillion trees since the start of humanity. The pace of deforestation has greatly increased since our world became industrialised and today it continues apace even though we now understand the crucial role that trees – especially old ones – play in combatting climate change, supporting biodiversity and protecting the planet.
