Walking Trail 4 – Bassaleg to Caerphilly

A challenging 16km walk through countryside, woodlands and upland ridges.

The walk starts at St. Basil’s church in Bassaleg. It follow country lanes west before picking up the Rhymney River Circular walk that leads into the village of Draethen. From there it’s a climb north into Coed Cefn Pwll-Du where it follows the Cambrian Way for a short while until it reaches Rudry.

Then the trail picks up the Rhymney River trail once again on the Ridgeway overlooking Cardiff before dropping down through the Wern Ddu woodlands to Caerphilly.
