A short but tricky 11km walk over the mountains from Bwlch to Maesteg.
The start follows public footpaths that once were ancient Celtic walking paths. They can be very muddy if wet with steep drops on one side. At Bwlch yr Afan, the trail follows gravel forestry tracks before picking up a public footpath (there is a wire fence to negotiate) and heading down towards Caerau Forest and Mynydd Pwll-yr-lwrch.
Here the footpath disappears into the mountainside requiring a scramble down the hill to a lower footpath that leads into the Spirit of Llynfi woodland park.
